On the 20th of February members of National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) approved anagreement on the distribution of supervisory responsibilities between the members of the Council.
On the 13th of February the Parliament appointed two new Council members: Ieva Kalderauska and Jānis Eglītis.
Ivars Āboliņš (Chairperson) ensures supervision of the overall work of the council and carries out work associated with the safety of the informative space as well as is co-responsible for the supervision of commercial local, regional, national and cross-border audio electronic mass media (commercial, non-commercial radio) also responsible for the supervision of VSIA “Latvijas Televīzija” and VSIA “Latvijas Radio”.
Aurēlija Ieva Druviete (Vice Chair) ensures international cooperation, contributes media literacy, and is co-responsible for the supervision of VSIA ”Latvijas Televīzija” (Latvian Television) and VSIA “Latvijas Radio” (Latvian Radio) as well as co-responsible for supervision of commercial local, regional, national and cross-border audio electronic mass media (commercial, non-commercial television).
Patriks Grīva supervises in the field of commercial local, regional, national and cross-border and audiovisual electronic mass media (commercial, non-commercial radio and television), as well as is co-responsible for the monitoring of issues related to the safety of the informative space and the supervision of VSIA “Latvijas Televīzija” and VSIA “Latvijas Radio”
Ieva Kalderauska is responsible for the supervision of VSIA “Latvijas Televīzija” and supervision of video on demand services, also co-responsible of monitoring joint projects of VSIA “Latvijas Radio” and VSIA “Latvijas Televīzija” as well as monitoring of LSM.lv and monitoring of locally generated and distributed content
Jānis Eglītis supervises joint projects of VSIA “Latvijas Televīzija" and “Latvijas Radio", including monitoring of LSM.lv and locally generated and distributed content. As well as is co-responsible for the monitoring of commercial local, regional, national and cross-border audiovisual electronic mass media (commercial, non-commercial television)
The members of the council jointly implement:
- Inter-institutional cooperation;
- The drafting of amendments of the laws and regulations affecting the operation of electronic mass media;
- Supervision of electronic mass media providing television programme distribution services.
